Lankan soldiers accused of abusing bodies of dead women

Human rights groups are calling for an investigation into allegations that male Sri Lankan soldiers have been abusing the bodies of dead female Tamil separatists.

The calls follow the public circulation of a disturbing video, apparently filmed by a soldier, showing the near-naked bodies of several female members of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.

The location or timing of the footage is not identified, but it has come to light amid heavy fighting between government forces and Tamil Tigers in north-eastern Sri Lanka.
